“...Uniting ministries and resources to accomplish God's work in Milwaukee”“There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.” ...Deuteronomy 15:11 (NIV) For many years, community and government organizations have been trying to assist communities in breaking from poverty, disease, illiteracy, violence and hunger. However, in many central cities across the country, despite great amounts of financial assistance, little change results. The emerging view today, as society's beliefs have changed, is one of sustainable development by seeking to integrate spiritual, physical and social aspects into the “change process.” Christian ministry leaders who are reaching out to their communities are often the catalysts for enabling community development activities, as the church is often the uniting factor in a given community. Because the church is the center of community involvement, its leaders are called to act in ways that unite the physical and spiritual. Brothers and Sisters In Christ Serving (BASICS) in Milwaukee, is a Christian organization which provides “ministry outreach leadership and resources” to prepare indigenous leaders to support sustainable community development by integrating spiritual, social and physical aspects into the change process. BASICS recognizes the need for equipping Christian leaders to administer ministries in holistic ways and is committed to effecting a spirit of unity. Its primary partners are both church and outreach ministries whose missions are based upon Christian values and a commitment to serving the needs of central cities. In our desire to fulfill God's call and to assist individuals called to serve as Christian missionaries in the urban community of Metropolitan Milwaukee, BASICS has become a Mission Agency. We provide administrative services that will enable called individuals to bring Good News and Hope by showing and telling the Love of Jesus Christ to the needy and disenfranchised citizens of our community. After serving as an Intern for a period of orientation, with an endoresement from a sending church, and a financial support foundation, the missionary nominee is then referred to as a "Minister to Milwaukee". If you feel God is calling you to serve with your time - treasure - talents - touch - tears, call BASICS in Milwaukee at 414-372-7200 for more information and/or to get involved in ministry.
