BASICS in Milwaukee, Inc.

Ministers

A Minister to Milwaukee is a man or woman committed to Christ who has answered a call to serve God by reaching out to people and churches in urban areas of southeastern Wisconsin. Currently, work is focused on the cities of Milwaukee and Waukesha. Ministers to Milwaukee are recognized as urban missionaries by their home churches where they receive support in varying degrees. Serving as the missions agency for Ministers to Milwaukee, BASICS is the fiscal agent for support funding, provides office space, and links ministers to partnerships and resources.

    Roger joined BASICS in 2003. He is a retired high school teacher and has been active in youth ministry for more than 20 years. Roger completed an internship in urban ministry and is recognized as an urban missionary by his home church - Northbrook Church - located in Richfield, WI.

    Roger's focus areas and activities are:

    Youth Ministry     - Helping churches to partner in starting Bible clubs in the Milwaukee Public High Schools. Development of training material for youth leadership in high schools.
    Information Services - Assisting urban churches to develop a strategy to reach the neighborhoods surrounding their church and research demographics for their target area.
    Discipleship and Bible Study - Working with men who desire to grow in Christ.

    Nancy joined BASICS in 2004 to coordinate the work of ministries in the area of prison aftercare.  She began working in the Milwaukee County Jail teaching Bible studies for the women in 1996 and felt the Lord leading her to prison aftercare.  She began helping Elmbrook Church with developing a mentoring ministry for ex-offenders and before joining with BASICS, worked on the staff at Elmbrook Church as prison aftercare coordinator.    Nancy is recognized and supported as a prison missionary by her home church, Elmbrook Church.

    Mark joined BASICS in 2002 after serving as the men's ministry assistant at Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI.  Elmbrook is Mark's home church where he is recognized and supported as an urban missionary.

    Reverend Boyd joined BASICS in Milwaukee in 2006. Rev. Boyd was drawn to BASICS by an intense desire and need to serve, through the leadership of the Holy Spirit, in the Milwaukee and surrounding areas. Not being sure how God wanted to use him, he yeilded himself, and made himself available through volunteering his services to BASICS
